Organizations & projects we must recognize!

Let's take a moment to appreciate the tremendous mission, effort and success that some of these organizations below have achieved. Whether you are a benevolent educator or industry professional, you can volunteer your time and expertise here in some way. Note that some of these are well-funded.


What can you do: Encourage these associations, share their social posts and assure them that their work in improving the state of academia is worthwhile.


Teach For America recruits outstanding and diverse leaders to become TFA “corps members.” Corps members commit to teaching for two years in a low-income community, where they’re employed by local schools and confront both the challenges and joys of expanding opportunities for kids.


LitWorld is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded by literacy expert Pam Allyn in 2007. LitWorld works with a broad coalition of national and international partners to ensure that young people worldwide can experience the joy and transformation of reading, writing, and storytelling.


Teachers Without Borders connects teachers to information and to each other in order to close the education divide. They have courses, initiatives and resources to education in emergencies, educating girls, peace education and human rights education.


The New Teacher Project (TNTP): seeks to end the injustice of educational inequality by providing excellent teachers to the students who need them most and by advancing policies and practices that ensure effective teaching in every classroom.


Jumpstart is a national early education organization working toward the day every child in America that enters kindergarten is prepared to succeed. They provide language, literacy, and social-emotional programming for preschool children from under-resourced communities and promote quality early learning for all children. Since 1993, they have trained more than 50,000 college students and community volunteers to transform the lives of over 123,000 preschool children nationwide.


The Education Trust is a national nonprofit that works to close opportunity gaps that disproportionately affect students of color and students from low-income families. Through research and advocacy, Ed Trust supports efforts that expand excellence and equity in education from preschool through college, increase college access and completion particularly for historically underserved students, engage diverse communities dedicated to education equity, and increase political and public will to act on equity issues.


The Gates Foundation partners with organizations, networks and individuals who are working at every level to improve education.


KIPP is a non-profit network of 255 college-prep, public charter schools educating early childhood, elementary, middle, and high school students. Together with families and communities, they create academically excellent schools that prepare students with the skills and confidence to pursue the paths they choose—college, career, and beyond.


The School Fund attempts to tackle the global education crisis. They provide scholarships to high potential students in developing nations.


The Annenberg Institute for School Reform at Brown University is dedicated to understanding the causes and consequences of educational inequality and to reduce this inequality through innovative, multidimensional, and research-informed approaches. Explore their center on the study of educators, and educational justice, etc.


The American Educational Research Association (AERA), a national research society, strives to advance knowledge about education, to encourage scholarly inquiry related to education, and to promote the use of research to improve education and serve the public good.


Center for Teaching Quality: CTQ brings educators and school system leaders together to improve public education for every student.


Blue Engine partners with schools to create classrooms where every child receives individual support to reach their potential, yielding dramatic gains in academic achievement for students affected by educational inequity.


Teach Plus: The mission of Teach Plus is to empower excellent, experienced, and diverse teachers to take leadership over key policy and practice issues that advance equity, opportunity, and student success.


BellWeather Education Partners is a national nonprofit focused on dramatically changing education and life outcomes for underserved children. They do this by helping education organizations accelerate their impact and by working to improve policy and practice.


New Teacher Center: Its mission is to disrupt the predictability of educational inequities for systemically underserved students by accelerating educator effectiveness. Their mission is supported with generous contributions from a number of philanthropic organizations.


The Eli and Edythe Broad Foundation works to advance entrepreneurship for the public good in education, science and the arts. They invest in the people, programs and institutions that are improving the human mind, body and spirit.


New Leaders: seeks to ensure high academic achievement for all children, especially students in poverty and students of color, by developing transformational school leaders and advancing the policies and practices that allow great leaders to succeed.


New Schools in a national nonprofit that invests in teams of educators and entrepreneurs with the vision and skills to reimagine learning.
